Sustainability of businesses in the short, medium and long term is down to the business environment in which they exist. This is no different for Financial Service Providers working to facilitate financial inclusion across Sub Saharan Africa. The stakeholders must work hand-in hand to build a conducive ecosystem where their innovative business models can thrive in.

The webinar focuses on discussions around the business environment in Sub-Saharan Africa and the approaches used to overcome market constraints in order to deliver financial products and services to smallholder farmers across Sub-Saharan Africa.

CEO and Co-Founder, Apollo Agriculture

Eli Pollak is the Founder and CEO of Apollo Agriculture. Apollo Agriculture helps farmers maximize their profits using agronomic machine learning, remote sensing, and mobile phones.
Prior to founding Apollo Agriculture, Eli helped build The Climate Corporation, which provides customized recommendations to large-scale farmers using machine learning. During his time there, the company grew from a startup to reach more than 60 million acres and was acquired for USD $1 billion. Eli studied Engineering at Stanford University and is a Forbes 30 Under 30.

George Muga
Head of Market Infrastructure at Financial Sector Deepening Uganda.

George Muga is the Head of Market Infrastructure at Financial Sector Deepening Uganda. His role entails facilitating government and industry players to develop infrastructure solutions that meet the financial needs of low-income Ugandans.
George has over 10 years’ experience from the telecommunications industry, with 9 years spent in Mobile Money functions. He was the Group Business Operations and Product Development Manager at Bharti Airtel Africa overseeing 15 African markets. He has extensive experience in building mobile money agent networks, mobile money product development, business process and mobile money operations.

Renita Nabisubi
Head of Digital Financial Solutions (DFS) at Access to Rwanda

Renita leads the Digital Financial Solutions (DFS) at AFR. She manages the organization’s strategic and business plan objectives related to extending financial services, particular for women and youth in rural areas. She oversees the design and implementation of all projects under the DFS portfolio. Renita is an electrical engineer by profession and has worked previously with Financial Sector Deepening Uganda as the Head of the Innovative Financial Services Pillar. She has also previously worked in the mobile telecommunications sector, leading the Alcatel-Lucent project management East African regional office, studying and testing new technologies for implementing mobile payment services within Vodafone Italy, planning and optimizing radio networks with MTN Uganda.
